Mrs. Betty Jean Brewster Gaskins, age 85, of Lanett, AL passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Wedowee Hospital in Wedowee, Al.

     Mrs. Gaskins is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Gaskins; close friends, Rachel Cain, Edith Carmichael, and Pat Peters; several in-laws, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

     She was preceded in death by her son, David Wayne Gaskins.

     Mrs. Gaskins was born on April 16, 1931 in Langdale, AL. She was an active member of Community Chapel Church of God in Lanett. She graduated Lanett High School in 1949. She was a loving mother and housewife who enjoyed writing cards to members of her church.

     Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM and the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Lanett with the Rev. Jim Green officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Lanett. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Community Chapel Church of God in her memory.
