Mr. Joseph Elbert Coker, 72, of Valley, AL passed away on Monday, April 2nd, 2018 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. He was born on May 30th, 1945 in Langdale, AL.
Mr. Coker is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Fullerton Coker; his two sons, Brandon Scott Coker and Dustin Blaine Coker, both of Valley, AL; his two grandchildren, Everleigh Diane Coker-Miles of Heath Springs, SC and McCall Fullerton of Valley, AL; his three siblings, Richard (Shirley) Coker of West Point, GA, Reba (Pete) Hamer of Valley, AL, and Mildred (Billy) Knowles of Dublin, GA; sister in law, Suzy Fullerton of Valley, AL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. B. and Vivian Coker; and his brothers, Lewis Coker and Jimmy Coker.
Mr. Coker had been a member of Riverview Baptist Church since September 11, 1966. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1965 until 1969 where he was a Seabee. He was employed by the Valley Housing Authority for 24 years and by Uniroyal for 28 years where he was a member of the Local Union #753.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4th, 2018 at 3:30 PM (EST) the graveside in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Lanny Sledge and the Rev. Randall Hamer officiating. The family will receive friends in the cemetery following the service.
