Mrs. Louise Hart Boozer, formerly of Lanett, died on December 5, 2017 in Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 88.  Over the past five years, she had courageously and graciously fought hard battles against heart disease and stroke.   Louise was predeceased by her husband Doyle, (1998) after 54 years of marriage.  From her birth until her death, Louise cared for the people around her and was a constant and steady force in the lives of her many friends and family.  She remained consistent in character, generosity, and work ethic.  She had a quick wit, loved a good laugh, was a wonderful cook, and was dedicated in her contributions to her church and community of friends.

Louise met her best friend and husband, Doyle Boozer, in high school.  She would often say that their wedding day and the birthdates of future additions to our family were the highlights of her life.  Together, they raised our family and provided a loving Christian foundation for all of us.  Louise worked at Leshner Mills, retiring after 26 years of service.  Throughout her life, she modeled the importance and benefits of hard work and commitment.  She began yet another adventure after her retirement, working for more than a decade in new product promotion.  She loved meeting customers and worked hard well into her 80s.  She made deep and enduring friendships that she cherished.  A fantastic cook, she loved old fashioned Southern foods such as catfish and cornbread, preferring to begin with dessert.  Of course, those who knew her well know that no meal was complete without a slice of onion.  She was an active church member all of her life, serving last at Huguley Baptist Church.  She served as Sunday school and VBS teacher and was active in WMU.  Louise served her friends by assisting with transportation to doctor’s appointments and providing meals.  Whenever there was a need, she was actively seeking ways to help, support, and encourage.

She was a strong, capable, resourceful lady.  Many people delighted in her “feistiness” and strong will—these traits were the result of being raised with 11 brothers during the Great Depression.  She had a heart and soul that family, friends and caregivers will miss deeply.  While we are saddened by the loss of our precious mother, we also rejoice in it because Daddy has been waiting a long time to see her again, and she him.  Along with Daddy, she’s joined her daughter, Gail, and her granddaughter, Jessica Breedlove in heaven.  Left to carry Louise’s spirit – and we will – are her children:  Gary & Sandra Boozer, Greg & Sharon Boozer, Stephanie Norred, and Jennifer & Marty Henry; her grandchildren:  Amy Boozer, Brian & Aimee Boozer, Ashley & Sam Henshaw, Caitlin & Justin Barton, and Eli Henry; and her great grandchildren Abigail, Brayden, and Trey.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 with visitation at 1:30 p.m. EST and a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. EST at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, Alabama.  Louise’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the stroke, cardiac, and trauma teams at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and to the teams at Tennova Home Health and SCHAS in Knoxville.
