Mr. Billy Joe Marcum, Sr., age 68, of Five Points, Alabama passed away on Monday, November 6th, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Marcum was born in Logan, West Virginia on February 10th, 1949 to the late Otis Lee Marcum and Betty Ann Parks.

He attended the Old Pathway Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia.  He was a man of Christ, a man of deep faith, and a man of forgiveness. 

He relocated to Five Points, Alabama several years ago and with his entrepreneurial talents built a successful business in the industrial pallet industry.   He was a self-made man who came from modest beginnings.  Through hard work and perseverance, he was able to build a successful business and life while maintaining his modesty and a humble heart.

Mr. Marcum was a people person and he never met a stranger. 

Although he was a very outgoing person, he also had a private side to him that allowed him to enjoy leisurely activities in his life.  He loved spending time with his family, playing horseshoes, grilling out with his family, and long afternoon drives in the country.

He is survived by his wife, Merri Marcum; children, Billy Joe Marcum, Jr. and his wife, Joanna, Columbus, Ohio, Sonya Lee Burgette, Columbus, Ohio, Tony Eugene Marcum and his wife, Vicky, Columbus, Ohio, Shawn William Marcum, Florida, Katrina Lynette Marcum, Beulah, Alabama, Charles Allen Marcum and his wife, Brooke, Phenix City, Alabama, Arthur Lee Marcum, Phenix City, Alabama, Jerry Ray VanWey-Marcum, Five Points, Alabama; sister, Wanda Lee Hawkins and her husband, Charles; brother, David Jake Marcum; grandchildren, Amber, Kellie, Billy III, Kristen, Tyler, Tiffany, David, Amanda, Kyle, Tony Jr., Antwan, Brittany, Melinda, Emily, Antonio, Devin, Maria, Quintin, Shawn Jr., Candice, Justin, Drew, Zachary, Jacob, Serenity, Amelia, Charles Mailon, Allen, Dustin, Garrett; 42 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. EST at the Old Pathway Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia with interment immediately following in Johnson Memorial Gardens.  Pastor Sam Mitchell officiating.  The family will be receiving friends at the church Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. EST until 11:00 A.M. EST.
