I learned of David's passing from my sister (Gina), who'd heard it from a friend, and I still can't fully grasp that he's not still with us. David and I both attended Springwood school together and for years we played on the the same teams (football, basketball, etc.) and were just friends. We were in different classes, as I graduated in 1982, but, even then, I recognized David as a person of extraordinary character. He was always a person who was both kind and caring. Even though I seldom see anyone from school much, since we both still live in the area I would see him out and about on occasion, usually out of town. Those occasions were always special to me, to see a dear friend like David was always a treat. True to who he was, he was always the "same ol' David" that I had always known. We would "catch up" on these occasions. I know I'm not alone in saying that I will always remember his smiling face and his kind, humble personality.
My family and I send our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of our good friend, David. May God comfort you and bring you peace during this most difficult of times. May the words of the apostle Matthew bring you hope, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4; KJV). If I may ever do anything to assist you, please let me know.
With our deepest sympathies,
Melvin "Buddy" Lee, Jr.

I have been on leave since Dec of 2016 so this came as a shock to me when I saw it in the paper. David was my Opps manager for a little while. We spoke on some occasions and we got along. I wish the best for his family and that they find the strength to carry on. I lost both parents in a year and its hard to say goodbye. We lean on Jesus and we move on. Its all we can do and I know that you can also. God Bless.

I have known David for 10+ years and cannot express how much he will be missed. David was the epitome of what a family man and friend should be. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt from his back if you needed it and would do so without hesitation. David lived his life in a way that that all could take lessons from. His life revolved around Karen, Krysta and Britney. We spent many days talking about family and friends and I loved hearing David tell his stories as no other could tell them. We would laugh ourselves into tears with some of our stories. I miss you brother and will never forget the type of man you were. You were my voice of reason on many occasions and I will miss that. See you on the other side.
