Mr. Ervin L. Bailey, age 85, of Riverview, Alabama passed away on Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at the LaFayette Nursing Home in LaFayette, Alabama.

Mr. Bailey was born on February 28th, 1932 in Fairfax, Alabama to the late William G. Bailey and Thelma Blackmon Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Bailey; his sisters, Katie Lee Williams and Marvine Bledsoe. 

In his earlier years, Mr. Bailey joined the United States Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War.

Upon returning home, he worked and retired from the West Point Pepperell Riverdale Mill.

Mr. Bailey was a calm and laid back man.  He enjoyed watching sports, watching old movies, and taking an afternoon car ride on a summer day.  He could often be sitting on his front porch watching the day go by and enjoyed having friends and family over to visit.    He was an avid University of Alabama Football fan. 

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church of Riverview, where he was a member, on Thursday, May 25th, 2017 at 2:00P.M. EDT with interment following in Fairview Cemetery.  Dr. Frank Rittenberry officiating.   His family will be receiving friends at the church on Thursday from 1:00P.M. EDT until the service hour. 

He is survived by two sons, Eugene (Gene) G. Bailey, Valley, John Wayne (Susan) Bailey, Valley; 3 grandchildren, David King, Jason King, Kristen Godfrey; 3 great-grandchildren, David King, Kaeli King, Kayden Godfrey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Christian Church of Riverview or to Chattahoochee Hospice.
