Mrs. Pauline P. Ruffin Obituary

Mrs. Pauline P. Ruffin, 94, long time resident of Lanett, AL died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, March 4th,  2018 at Hospice of Virginia in Richmond. She resided at Vernon Woods in LaGrange, GA for one and a half years, and most recently resided at Spring Arbor Cottages in Midlothian, VA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at 4:00P.M. EST at the Lanett First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Reid Turner and the Reverend Donnie Erwin-Brown officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday from 3:00pm until the service hour at the Lanett First United Methodist Church. 

Mrs. Ruffin was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Roy Ruffin; her parents, Orelia and Edward Patterson, as well as three brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Ruffin is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Russ) Flowers of Gambrills, Maryland and Paula (Ren) Heath of Valentines, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Chisari of Crofton, Maryland, Kevin Flowers of Pasadena, Maryland, Lindsey Powell (Jen) of Wilmington, North Carolina, James P. Cummins (Tina) of Charlotte, North Carolina.; two great- grandchildren, Tanner and Lexi Chisari of Crofton, Maryland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ruffin was born on August 8th, 1923 in LaGrange, GA. She lived in GA, AL, NY, NJ, TX and FL during her childhood.

As a young woman she enjoyed ice skating, swimming and diving. She performed in national choral concerts in Syracuse, NY. After working in retail for a number of years she was employed with Valley National Bank for 27 years. She enjoyed bowling on the VNB bowling league. She was an active member of the Lanett First United Methodist Church, where she served as an officer for her circle; was instrumental in implementing the Nursery program at the church and participated in the design of the nursey wing and bridal room when the new church was built. She enjoyed music and dancing. She also had an avid interest in genealogy. She toured the US with her husband and her brother and his wife, Jack and Opal Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lanett First United Methodist Church, 508 South 6th Street, Lanett, Al. 36863 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
