Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Miles Yates passed away on November 6th, 2017 at the EAMC Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Alabama. Mr. Yates was born in Opelika, Alabama on November 27th, 1962.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Yates, Sr., his mother, Katie Hollis Sturkie, his brother, James S. Yates, and his sister, Melita Yates Bosworth.
Tommy was a devoted Christian and shared Jesus with others wherever he went. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan and loved Valley High School football. He also enjoyed working with the youth football leagues and programs in Valley. He worked for a number of years at Lanier Hospital, ALFA Insurance Company, and was best known for his lawn care business, Quality Cuts.
Mr. Yates is survived by his two children, Eric Yates and Christy Yates; two granddaughters, Rylie and Allie, all of Valley, Alabama; four brothers, Bob (JoAnn) Yates of Montgomery, Alabama, Michael Jerome (Sharon) Ezell of Beulah; Jimmy (Teresa) Yates of Opelika, Alabama; Herbert (Kelly) Yates, Jr., of ChampionsGate, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Yates will be held on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at 12:00 Noon EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Bogy Cotney officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00A.M. EST until the service hour.
