Patricia R. Fulghum, affectionately known as Patricia to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. Born on September 21, 1939, in Chambers County, Alabama, Patricia's life was a story of love, creativity, and kindness that touched everyone she knew.
Patricia's journey began as the cherished daughter of her parents in Chambers County, where she grew up to embrace the joys of life with a warm and generous spirit. Her life was a testament to the power of love, as she shared 65 beautiful years with her devoted husband, John Lee Fulghum. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love that would be her most enduring accomplishment.
Patricia's love for her family knew no bounds. She was a beloved sister to her brother, Mike Ragsdale. As a mother, she poured her heart into raising her daughters, Kim Yarbrough (married to Ronnie) and Kelly Hamby (married to Ruben), and her son, Tim Fulghum (married to Hector). Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one she cherished deeply, leaving a lasting impact on her grandchildren, Crystal Crawford, Ryan Yarbrough, Steven Fulghum, Eric Fulghum, Clint Fulghum, Ashley Kirby, Whitney Fulghum, Allis Colvin, and Austin Hamby, as well as her great-grandchildren, Lakelyn Crawford, Layten Crawford, Mason Yarbrough, Ada Yarbrough, Adrienne O'Neal, Mikayla Fulghum, Joshua Fulghum, Charlie Fulghum, Anthony Fulghum, Emberleigh Kirby, Collins Kirby, Kanen Fulghum, Aria Fulghum, and T.J. Fulghum. The joy of her family grew with the arrival of her great-great-grandchildren, Colt Bassett and Waylon Bassett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Dorsey Ragsdale; and her son, Todd Fulghum (Denise).
Patricia's home was always filled with the aroma of her famous hamburgers and biscuits, a testament to her exceptional culinary skills. She was a great cook who delighted in preparing meals that brought her family together around the table, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her love for cooking was just one of the many ways she expressed her love and care for those around her.
Beyond her family, Patricia had a passion for life that was evident in her hobbies and interests. In years past, she enjoyed going fishing with her husband, where they shared quiet moments and the beauty of nature. Her creative spirit shone through in her love for crafts, where she brought beauty into the world with her hands. Gardening and growing flowers were also among her favorite pastimes, allowing her to nurture life and add color to the world around her. In her professional life, Patricia was a Medical Technologist for forty years, serving at Lanier Memorial Hospital and West Georgia Medical Center.
Those who knew Patricia will remember her as a loving, kind, and creative soul. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a joy, and her guidance a steady hand in the lives of those she loved. She had the rare ability to make everyone feel special and loved, and her legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of her family and friends.
As we say goodbye to Patricia Ann Fulghum, we celebrate a life that was truly a blessing to all. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her love felt forevermore. Patricia's life was a beautiful reflection of the love she gave so freely, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
