Ms. Dorothea “Dot” Van Horn, age 73, of Valley, Alabama, formerly of Lanett, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. She was born on September 23rd, 1946 in Valley, Alabama to the late Willie Clyde “Dago” Pike and Marjorie Wilkinson Pike.
Ms. Van Horn is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kyle and Jennifer Van Horn of Valley, Alabama; her five grandchildren, Dylan, Tate, Rylee, Abby, and Payton; her great grandchild, Paisley Jane; her special daughter and her husband, Felicia and Jeff; her brother and his wife, Clyde and Janice Pike; her niece, Michelle; her great niece, Rhinna; a host of cousins; numerous special friends that she loved dearly.
Over the years Ms. Van Horn was employed with Bondcoat, was a switch board operator for Interstate Valley Telephone Company, and for West Point Stevens Stores Division. She enjoyed crafting, drawing, and painting. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who lived for her son and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. Chaplain Colonel Gary R. Perry will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM (EDT) until the service hour at the funeral home.
