Elizabeth Byrd Andress Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Byrd Andress, age 66, of McCulloh, AL passed away on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at her residence. She was born on March 24th, 1952 in Birmingham, AL.

Mrs. Andress is survived by her husband, Butch (Michael) Andress; her daughter, Leigh Andress; and her grandson, Hugh Smith.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Paul Andress; her mother, Nell Byrd; and her father, Hugh Byrd.

An avid reader and tireless educator, she supported countless students and members of the community in reaching their educational goals. Later in life, she made a personal study of the lineage of her ancestors and was a rich source of knowledge regarding the history of her family and their settlement of the McCulloh community and East-Central Alabama. She was a lifetime member of Beulah Methodist Church, serving in various roles of leadership, education, and community outreach. Outside of McCulloh, one of her greatest joys was spending time with friends and family on the beaches of Indian Pass, Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at 2:00 PM (CST) at the Beulah United Methodist Church. The Reverend Katrina Paxson will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 PM (CST) until the service hour at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Andress to the ALS Association Alabama Chapter, 300 Cahaba Park Circle, Suite 209, Birmingham, AL 35242, webal.alsa.org or to the Beulah United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5165 Lee road 270, Valley, AL, 36854.
