     Mrs. Faye Janet Smith, age 83 of Huguley AL was born November 28, 1933. She passed away at her home from a short-term illness on Monday November 13, 2017.

     Mrs. Smith is survived by her 2 daughters Shelley Smith of Lanett, AL and Kay (David) Stodghill of Brandon, MS; 7 grandchildren, Steve (Angela) Williams of Huguley, AL, Jason Sturgess of Riverview, AL, Teresa (Ryan) Schielauder of Newman, GA, Krystal (David) Ganus of Huguley, AL, April Stodghill of Brandon, MS, Josh (Paige) Stodghill of Pearl, MS, and Forrest (Jessica) Stodghill of Joplin, MO; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

     Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband after 49 years of marriage, Elmer Gaines “Booty” Smith, Jr.; her daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Smith McCall; her mother, Ida Virginia Counts; her father, Percy Counts; her sister, Joyce Brown; her brothers, Floyd Espy and Paul Espy; and her granddaughter Felicia La Sha Stodghill.

     Mrs. Smith was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Huguley, AL until she began to have health issues. Mrs. Smith was the head cashier at their family business called HI Way Cleaners. She also helped in the business dry cleaning clothes, washing clothing, pressing and the bagging the clothes ready for her customers. She enjoyed all the school activities with her three daughters. She served as treasurer PTA at Huguley School. At her church she taught the children’s class, moved up to older adults, taught Bible school. She studied her Bible and loved her Lord. She always knew one day she would be with Jesus for eternity in Heaven.

     Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the graveside in Shawmut Cemetery in Valley, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

     In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the hospice of one’s choice in memory of Mrs. Smith.
