Mr. John Vernon Smith, Jr., 61 of Valley, AL passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Bethany House Hospice in Auburn, AL. 

He is survived by his son, Jonathan Smith (Kera); father, Vernon Smith, Sr. (Jeanette); brother, Marc Smith (Karen); sister, Maylyn Cunningham; four grandchildren, Asa, Eden, Emery, & Eva Smith; mother, Barbara Cunningham; wife, Paula Smith; two nephews, Elijah & Isaac Smith; and aunts & uncles.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Richie Cunningham. 

He was born in Valley, AL on May 13, 1956 and was a member of the Blanton Baptist Church.  He loved to fish and was a Mason.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 6:00 PM EST at Blanton Baptist Church, Valley, AL.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
