Mr. Johnny P. Taunton, age 79, of Huguley, AL passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at his residence.

     Mr. Taunton is survived by his loving wife, Pearline Taunton, his four children, his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Tim Bunn, his daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Shane McConnell; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lisa Taunton, and his daughter and son-in-law, LindaJean and Scotty Templeton; his brother, Dwayne Taunton; his sisters, Louise Taunton Askew and Anita Taunton Moon; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a host of “special” nieces, nephews, and friends.

     He was preceded in death by two sons, Dusty Lynn Taunton and Timothy John Taunton; his parents, John Walker and Grace Taunton; and his brother, Mike Taunton.

     Mr. Taunton was born on July 26, 1938 in Wadley, AL. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator and had a passion for driving an 18 Wheeler cross country. He loved fishing, hunting, and hosting a fish fry for family and friends after his big catch.

     Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the Happy Valley Baptist Church in Lanett, AL with the Rev. John Samanie officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 AM (EST) until the service hour at the church.
