Mary Zelna Nix Obituary

Mrs. Mary Zelna Nix, age 95 went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 21, 2019 at her special home of two years at Valley Park Manor Assistant Living surrounded by her loving family, staff and residents.

She is the daughter of the late Henry Wilson Vickers and Annie Pearl Knight Vickers.

She is survived by her son, William Charles Nix (Ann), her daughter, Judy Nix Hollon (Bryant); son in law Orlando Pete Langley, daughters in law Shirley Laney Nix and Diana Story Nix; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Sisters; Margie Vickers Waldrop and Edith Vickers Johnson and number of special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Curtis Nix, her daughter Brenda Nix Langley, and her sons Donald Wilson Nix and David Gregory Nix.

She was an active member of West Side Baptist Church until her health declined. It was her honor to volunteer as a quilter for Chattahoochee Hospice for 10 years plus. She loved reading her bible, quilting and doing cross word puzzles. She was thrilled when her granddaughter Harper asked to learn to quilt and because of her own love for quilting, she was over joined to teach her.

The family would like to thank Valley Park Manor Assisting Living for the loving and care she received each and every day. She loved her nickname maw maw given to her by all staff members. We would also like to thank Kindred and Chattahoochee Hospice for their care and support given to her and the family. We thank Dr. Arvin Kamath, Dr. Bakshi Kamath and the staff for the love and support.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 24th, 2019 at 3:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The Reverends Chuck Anderson, Mark McGee, and David Bradshaw will officiate. Interment will follow in LaFayette City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Kindred or Chattahoochee Hospice.
