Mr. James G. “Pete” Weldon, age 89, of Five Points, Alabama, formerly of Lanett, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019.
Mr. Weldon was born in Lanett, Alabama on March 13th, 1930 to the late Roy J.D. Weldon and Lois Owens Weldon.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Ann Weldon; grandparents, Charley C. Weldon and Odie C. Weldon; grandchildren, Jeremy Glen Fetner; Brandi Renee Daniel.
In his younger years, Mr. Weldon worked as a salesperson at the Cottle’s Auto Parts Store in West Point, Georgia and the West Point Feed Store. He went on to work for Diversified Products and then Ampex for many years. After he retired, he assisted his wife, Barbara, and they operated Nannie’s Daycare together until they both retired. During that time, they both developed special relationships with all of the children, who would come to visit and help them both years later. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Weldon was a member of the Community Chapel Church of God in Lanett, Alabama. He loved the Lord, his wife, and his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Ann (Joe) Tittle; Susan Daniel; grandchildren, Melissa (David) Mitchell; Michael (Amanda) Tittle; great-grandchildren, Dixie Fetner, Austin Fetner, Trent Wheeler, Jessica Wheeler, and Alex Rackow.
Pallbearers will be Blake Meadows, Anthony Meadows, Hunter Meadows, Brian Philpott, Don Thomaston, and Mark Thomaston.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25th, 2019 at 3:00P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Oakwood Cemetery. The Reverend Loren Sutton and the Reverend Mark McGee officiating. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 2:00P.M. EDT until 3:00P.M. EDT.
