Mr. James Louis Henderson, age 91, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 28th, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 3:00P.M. EDT 2:00P.M. CDT at the Beulah Baptist Church, Beulah, Alabama with his nephew, Steve Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00P.M. EDT 1:00P.M. CDT.
Louis Henderson was born on November 27th, 1927 in Beulah to the late Homer and Mattie Henderson. He served in the Merchant Marines, Navy, and Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. Louis retired from Georgia Power Company after 35 years of service. He was also active in the Georgia Power South Metro Ambassadors and Forest Park Chapter of the Kiwanis. Louis was a strong man of faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morrow.
He was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, Georgia football, and Atlanta Falcons, providing they had a winning season. He was a gifted gardener and was known for growing the largest hostas. Above all, he was an amazing and caring father, becoming both father and mother to his daughters following the death of their mother.
Louis was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Kelly Henderson; siblings, John Will (Evelyn) Henderson, Doris (Lloyd) Glover, Dorothy Henderson, Mildred (Charles) Cummings, and Mary Nell Robertson; nephews, Johnny Henderson, David Cummings, and Lee Robertson.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wilson Henderson; daughters, Jennie McDonald, Diane (Tim) Miles, Liz Henderson; grandson, Staff Sergeant Andrew McDonald; stepchildren, Joe (Tonya) Jackson, Marla Potts; step-grandchildren, John-Joseph, Joshua (Angela), Jeremy, Jordan Jackson, Zoe and Zach Potts; step-great granddaughter, Moya Jackson; brother-in-law, Gene Robertson; numerous nieces and nephews.
