Mr. Teddie Frank Meadows, age 85, of Valley passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 19th, 2019.
Mr. Meadows was born in Valley, Alabama on January 2nd, 1934 to the late James Seaborn Meadows and Betty Lou Blake Meadows.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gervis Ingram Meadows.
Mr. Meadows served in the United States Navy and was very proud of the time that he served in the Navy and for his country. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he made many friends that turned out to be lifelong friendships.
Upon returning from his service, he worked for the service center and eventually retired from the West Point Stevens Company.
Mr. Meadows also worked as a contractor in construction. He was a very talented craftsman who built many things over the years. He took great pride in the things that he created and was very articulate in their design and construction. He would always say to his children, “If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right”.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing.
His most prized possession in life was his family. He was a very family oriented man who instilled in his children the importance of working hard, playing hard, and how to love.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Jimmy) Swader, Teresa (Curtis) Sides, Paul (Ellen) Meadows, Jim (Rhi) Meadows; sister, Sara (Perry) Duffey; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 at 11:00A.M. EST at the Langdale United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Herston and the Reverend Perry Duffey officiating. Interment will follow in Shawmut Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00A.M. EST until 11:00A.M. EST.
