Mrs. Kathryn Andrews Obituary

Sarah Kathryn Burden Andrews

May 2, 1924 – October 24, 2018

Kathryn Andrews of Valley Park Manor in Valley, Alabama departed this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at her adopted residence.  Kathryn was the daughter of Walter Roy and Reecie Moone Burden of Tignall, Georgia where she was reared and educated.  She and her husband Wilton moved to Lanett after Wilton served during WWII.  Kathryn was a long-time resident of Lanett, Alabama where she happily lived with her beloved husband Wilton Andrews.  Kathryn was the mother of three children:  Carroll Andrews (wife Jann) of Mc Calla, Al., Perry Andrews (wife Judy) of Sylacauga, Al., and Helen Andrews Ivey (husband Garve Jr.) of Jasper, Al.  She also considered her sister Jacquelyn Richardson, (husband Billy) who resided with her after the untimely death of her parents as her daughter. She also leaves behind several grandchildren: Kathryn Myrick (husband Michael) of Pelham, Al., Jonathon Andrews (wife Karen) of Jupiter, Fl., Amy Andrews of Sylacauga, Al., and Garve Ivey III (wife Sarah Christen) of Jasper, Al.  Kathryn also recognized her niece and nephew Tammy McCullough of Lanett, Al. and Tony Richardson of Orange Park, Fl. as her grandchildren. She was also blessed with several great grandchildren: Kasey and Karsen Andrews, Ivey-Elise, Sarah-Wilton, Garve IV, and Grisham Ivey.

Kathryn was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker to her family.  She was known in many circles for her excellent cooking.  She loved baking cakes, cookies, homemade candies for others to enjoy.  She especially enjoyed sharing her caramel cakes with her fellow “Jolly Seniors” at Lanett First Baptist.  Kathryn served her church for many years as a part of the Nursery team as her church related calling.

Kathryn loved the outdoors as well.  She and Wilton loved to work together to create wonderful vegetable gardens over the years.  They also loved to fish together. They were able to befriend many people through their grocery and feed and seed businesses.

We will miss her greatly, but also know that she is at peace surrounded by loved ones that went before her.  She was a faithful believer that never wavered.  Her life of love for her Savior and others was her testimony.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM EST from the Lanett First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Jordan officiating.  Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
