I was so sad to hear about Spencer. I was in his class at Springwood. He was the kindest person with such a great sense of humor. I always enjoyed seeing him working at Givorns when I was in town. He always had the warmest smile on his face. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Spencer will be missed.

To Spencer's loved ones,
I was greatly saddened to hear of Spencer's passing. We first met at Springwood in August of 1977. We were in the same class. We spent almost all day everyday together during each school year. He always had a smile on his face. The last time we saw each other was at our last class reunion in 2010. He was still smiling. Wish I could have been at the funeral, but am just now finding out. I live in St Marys, GA which is very close to Jacksonville, FL but unfortunately not close enough to Shawmut for me to have made it to his funeral today. I will keep all his loved ones in my prayers and thoughts. Will also visit his grave next time I am in West Point. Sincerely, R. John Holzschuh

Dear Mr. Johnson,
I was saddened to hear of Spencer's death. I am one of Jack and Bobbie Gene Hamrick's daughters and I was in the same class with Spencer at Springwood. I just found out about his funeral last night. I live on the north side of Atlanta so I will not make it to his funeral. Spencer was a person who never gave up, and I always appreciated that quality in him. He also always spoke fondly of you and his mom. You were so supportive of him . I pray that God will fill you with His peace and presence during this time of loss.
Sincerely,
Carol

Dear Mr. Johnson,
I am sorry to hear of Spencer's death. I just found out last night. I am not able to attend the funeral because I live in a suburb on the north side of Atlanta. I don't know whether you remember me or not, but I was one of Jack and Bobbie Gene Hamrick's daughters. I was in the same class with Spencer at Springwood. He always spoke fondly of you and his mom. You both were such kind parents. I pray that you will feel the peace and presence of God today.
Sincerely,
Carol

I worked with Spencer at Lanett Mill. He was a very hard worker. Barely stopped to even talk . He really cared about working. When I first saw him I thought there was a flaw in him, come to realize the flaw was in me. For not seeing him as he really was. And anyone that becomes an eagle scout should be greatly honored. Talked to him at Wal-Mart about a month ago. And now hes gone. You will be missed. Your friend.
