Ann "Grandma" Williams

Ann "Grandmama" Williams, age 80, passed away on Friday, June 19th, 2020 at her residence. 

Grandmama Williams was born on February 17th, 1940 in Valley, Alabama to the late Dan Brown and Katherine Harper Brown. 

She made it just in time to spend Father's Day this year with her eternal Father and Earthly father and mother, Dan and Katherine Brown. Her brothers Charles and Bobby Brown and sister Dot also shared in the Heavenly family reunion when she arrived. We can't help but smile thinking of all the people in Heaven who were there to welcome her to her eternal home. "What A Day That Will Be!"

Ann is no longer battling those terrible headaches that she had every day for the past several years. We remember Mom calling Ann on Sunday mornings to ask her if she felt like going to church. Ann would tell us she still had her headache but that she could have her headache sitting in church just as easy as sitting at home so she went. She enjoyed seeing her church family. Her vision, health, and mind have been restored. They were restored as soon as she closed her eyes. She's able to run and jump and see Jesus all the time. There's no stopping her now.

Grandmama worked many years for West Point Pepperell in the Spinning Room and the Weave Room at Riverview Mill and Fairfax Mill, maybe even also Langdale Mill. She was a hard worker. She came from the generation of hard workers.

Grandmama had some serious gardening skills. She could root any kind of cutting off a flower or bush and get it to grow. 

Grandmama was also very talented in sewing, crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking cakes, and loving her family, especially her grandchildren Cody, Kelsie, Hannah, and Faith, and her great grandson, Colt. Grandmama was proud of her grandchildren and great grandson. Years ago, around November Grandmama would start trying to coordinate everyone's schedule and have me make group pictures of Cody, Kelsie, Hannah, and Faith for Christmas. We cherish the memories that Hannah and Faith have about staying at Grandmama's house and their memories they have of their Grandmama and Paw Paw.

When Faith got her driver's permit, Grandmama let her practice driving in her gray car on the way to church on Sunday mornings. After Faith got her driver's license Faith drove Grandmama to church in the blue "Bug".  We will sure miss seeing Grandmama and Faith sitting together on the pew on the left towards the front at Friendship Christian Church.

Grandmama now has the best seat in Heaven and the most wonderful thing about it is we can see her again. Our Lord Jesus has made a special place for us in Heaven to live with Him for eternity. All we have to do is accept Him. He welcomes us just as we are and in our own mess. We don't have to have everything together. Jesus is full of forgiveness, mercy, grace, and love. Jesus is the bomb diggity.

Grandmama knew Jesus, accepted Him as her Lord and Savior, and believed in Him. Grandmama knew she was going to Heaven when the time came for her to leave this world. We have heard her talk about Heaven many times and how she was looking forward to it.

Thank you, Grandmama, for your friendship, your hugs, your sweetness, your laughter, your knowledge, your chicken dressing, your homemade scarves, your strawberry cakes, your 5-layer chocolate cakes, and your delicious just baked and STILL WARM friendship bread you gave us after church.

We are all looking forward to seeing you again some day. We are just pilgrims here. This world is not our home.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney Williams and J.J. (Tammie) Williams; sister, LeMerle Fulghum; grandchildren, Hannah Williams, Kelsie Williams, Faith Williams, Cody Williams; great-grandson, Colton Holloway. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 at 2:00P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Shady Grove Cemetery.  The Reverend Buddy Harris officiating.  Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00P.M. EDT until 8:00P.M. EDT.
