Ann P. Shaw, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 71 years old in Opelika, Alabama. Born on January 16, 1954, in West Point, Georgia, Ann was a symbol of love and kindness in the lives of all who knew her.
Ann's devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, O'Neal Shaw, her daughters, Amy Thompson, Libby Morgan, and Melissa Roberts (Adam), her eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and her brother, Jinks Patterson (Shirley). Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Hasty and Nettie Patterson.
For 25 years, Ann brought warmth and dedication to her role as a Claims Representative at Alfa Insurance. Her genuine love for her customers and coworkers was evident in every interaction, making her a treasured member of the Alfa Insurance family.
Ann's zest for life shone through her many passions. Upon retirement, she relished in the joys of boating, enthusiastically traveled to new places, and spent invaluable time with her dear family. A lifelong supporter of Auburn University, Ann's spirit for anything related to Auburn was infectious. Her devotion extended to her faith as a devout member of Langdale Methodist Church. Prior to her membership at Langdale Methodist Church she gracefully served as a pianist for 50 years at various churches, uplifting the congregations with her music.
Remembered for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and friendly demeanor, Ann's legacy of care and compassion will live on through the many lives she touched. Her love for her namesake dog, Birdie Ann, was yet another reflection of her boundless capacity for affection. Ann P. Shaw's memory will be treasured forever by those fortunate enough to have known her.
