Audrey Ann Bethune

     Mrs. Audrey Ann Bethune, age 79, of Valley, Al, died peacefully in her sleep and entered her Eternal home on May 1, 2023. She was born to Watson and Mary Crook on November 12, 1943 in Augusta, GA.

     She was preceded in death by her parents Watson and Mary Crook; son, Gregory Eugene Bethune; brother, Bubba Crook; and sister, Rebeka Henderson. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Milton Eugene Bethune; daughter in law, Lori Bentley Bethune; sister, Ernestine Jones; grandsons, Aaron Bethune (Elizabeth) and Caleb Bethune; granddaughter, Savannah Bethune; one great-granddaughter, Stella Grace Bethune; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins.

     Ann was a long-time substitute for Chambers County School System and was loved by all her students, and if you knew her, you knew she loved children. She loved being with family, especially her grandchildren. She made a point to always be at their school activities and sporting events well into their college years, taking many pictures along the way. She was also a foster parent early in her life and loved caring for babies. Ann was a fantastic cook and known throughout the Valley for her divine Red Velvet cakes at Christmas time. She would get many requests from people around town. Ann was also a very generous person and very thoughtful of others. She was always buying gifts for people in her life, not only family but those she encountered daily through the years. You could say she was a true Southern Lady.

     Funeral services for Ann will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 3:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. The Reverend David Templeton will officiate. Ann’s family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley.
