Barbara Hill Obituary

Barbara Jean Gullatt Hill, 76, of Glenn, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, after a life filled with love, laughter, and the kind of adventures that become treasured stories.

Born in Valley, Alabama, Barbara was raised as a Baptist and remained a devoted Christian throughout her life. Her faith was the foundation of everything she did; strong, sincere, and quietly powerful.

She loved to sing in church and found deep joy in the fellowship of her church family. Barbara’s life was vibrant and full of purpose. At 16, she got her first horse and thus began a lifelong bond with animals and the riding community. She not only rode and showed horses herself, but generously shared her time and talent, helping friends and neighbors train and care for theirs.

Her daughter, Lisa Marie Gordon, inherited this love and continues to ride today, a living reflection of her mother’s passion and spirit. But Barbara’s love didn’t stop at horses, she also had music in her soul. A true lover of all genres, she especially adored country music and even spent part of her life as a country music promoter. She was in her element traveling to events with “her artists,” whether it was a small-town craft fair or a big night in Nashville at the iconic Ernest Tubb Record Shop.

She found joy in both the spotlight and the sidelines, cheering others on and soaking in the soundtrack of the life she loved. Barbara was also known for her warmth, generosity, and steady presence. She made everyone feel welcome in her presence. She loved porch conversations, morning coffee, and the laughter of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Marie Gordon, and her two adored grandsons, Johnny Wallace and Austin Wallace. She is also survived by her dear brother, Michael Gullatt, who shared a close and lifelong bond with her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alfus Alexander “Jack” Gullatt and Margie Ruth Gullatt, and by many beloved relatives and animals who now welcome her home.

Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Brown Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. (EST).

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. (EST).

All services will conclude at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Barbara’s life, the family encourages donations to Loveless Dog and Horse Rescue, that was responsible for rehoming Barbara’s horses when she first got sick, or simply sing a favorite hymn, plant a flower, or take a peaceful ride in the countryside and think of her. Barbara Jean Hill lived a life of grace, grit, and heartfelt song.

May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones and held in the arms of her Savior, her song still playing in the hearts she leaves behind.
