Bernice Porter, age 79, of Huguley, Alabama passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at the Columbus Hospice House.
Mrs. Porter was born in Milltown, Alabama on June 28, 1942, to the late Joseph Sudduth and Erma Heard Sudduth. She was also preceded in death by her husband Leon Porter, her siblings, Reba Rogers, Elaine Stewart, Milton Sudduth, Le Merle Near, and Louise Yawn.
Mrs. Porter loved bowling, playing poker, and her arts and crafts. She also took immense pride in the appearance of her yard and could often be seen outside taking care of her lawn and enjoying her flowers.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Alan) Porter Kirkland, Keith (Michele) Porter; siblings, Betty Jean Willingham, Glenda Puckett, Mickey Sudduth, Ruby Nell Turner; grandchildren, Amber Carney, Morgan Russell, Lauren Porter, Evan Porter, Troy Kirkland; great-grandchildren, Abby Kate Carney, John Porter Carney, Addie Claire Russell, and Connor Russell; numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 2:00P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Her family will be receiving friends Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00P.M. EDT until the service hour at 2:00P.M. EDT.
