Betty Sue McClain passed away on January 26, 2026, at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia, at the age of 86.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McClain; her parents, Gilbert and Mavis Miles; her sister and brother-in-law, Runell and S.T. Janney; and her brother, James Miles. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Linda Miles; her sister-in-law, Marrell Miles; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A native of Woodland, Alabama, Betty had many interests and hobbies. She loved animals, reading, sewing, needlepoint, gardening, puzzles, shopping, and watching Bill Gaither’s Homecoming on Saturdays.
After moving to the Valley area, she attended Lanett Nazarene Church and often visited Todd Congregational Christian Church to hear her late nephew, Russell Janney, preach. Betty had a big heart for the less fortunate and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service for Betty will be held in the Chapel of Johnson Brown–Service Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama, Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 (EST), with a private interment to follow. Reverend Lynn McClain will officiate.
Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
