Betty Sue Hoppe

     Mrs. Betty Sue Hoppe, age 73, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 at her residence. She was born on September 14th, 1946 in Valley to the late A.C. and Opal Tolbert.

     Mrs. Hoppe is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eugene E. Hoppe; her three children, Edward James Hoppe, Robert William Hoppe, and Julianne (Kevin) Pigg; her six grandchildren, Racheal Whisman (Bryan) Morse, Christopher Chase Hoppe, Brenden Hoppe, Sidney Hoppe, Samantha Pigg, and Michael Pigg; several great grandchildren; her two brothers, Bobby Tolbert and Billy Tolbert; her special sister-in-law, Elaine Hoppe.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Eula Lee Thornton Bass; three special aunts, Vernon Ware, Kathleen “Ikey” Smith, and Grace Brooks.

     Over the years, Mrs. Hoppe worked at Fairfax Elementary School, where she served as a dietician. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting cookbooks, and spending time with her family.

     Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 13th, 2019 at 2:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The Reverend Rusty Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church in her memory.
