Billie Jean Clem

     Billie Jean Clem, age 98, formerly of Valley (Langdale), Alabama passed peacefully March 13, 2026, into the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was born on September 27, 1927, in Fairfax, Alabama, to Horace M. and Gladys F. Williams.

     Billie Jean was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her five brothers and sisters; her devoted husband of many years, Howard Clem Sr.; and her cherished son, Howard Clem Jr.

     She is survived by her loving daughter, Amiee Sanders (Terry) of Bay Minette, Alabama. She also leaves behind four grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life: grandson Trey Clem of North Carolina; granddaughter Lauren Sanders Cox (Austin) of Spanish Fort, Alabama; grandson Ryan Sanders of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and granddaughter Michelle Shreider (Brian) of Tampa, Florida. Her love for her grandchildren ran deep, and they brought immense joy and pride to her life.

     Billie Jean also held a special place in her heart for her son-in-law, Terry Sanders. She loved “her Terry” dearly and was grateful for the love, care, and devotion he showed to her and her family through the years.

     She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.

     Billie Jean was known for her servant’s heart and her deep love for others. She was a wonderful cook and baker who delighted in sharing meals and treats with family and friends. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel loved, often greeting others with a warm smile or a hug. She often said she was not lucky but truly blessed.

     Throughout her career, Billie Jean faithfully served her community. She worked in the Chambers County School System and in her later years, she continued her service as a court clerk in both Chambers County and Lee County.

     Most importantly, Billie Jean loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith guided her life. She was an active and faithful member of her church. She attended Langdale Baptist Church (now Valley) and later Shawmut First Baptist Church.

     Though she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family takes comfort in the promise of Scripture that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

     Her legacy of faith, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew her.

     Funeral services for Billie Jean will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at 2:30 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. The Reverend Chuck Anderson will officiate. Billie Jean’s family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:30 PM (EDT) until the service hour.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Shawmut First Baptist Church, Shawmut, Alabama.
