Bobby Gene White Obituary

Bobby Gene White, age 74, of Lanett passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 10th, 2020.

Bobby was born in Roanoke, Alabama on May 30th, 1946 to the late Horace Eugene White and Irma Ruth Brown Brackett.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard White, and his brother, Sam White.

Bobby was a member of the Community Baptist Church in West Point, Georgia several years ago and was currently attending West End Baptist Church in Valley until his health began to decline.

He retired as a foreman from the City of Lanett where he oversaw the street and water departments. He was also well-known in the area for his plumbing knowledge and skills and owned White’s Plumbing.

Bobby’s passions in life revolved mainly around his family and especially his grandchildren.  

He and his wife Diane enjoyed spending days on their porch and sitting in the swing.  He loved to fish, was an avid University of Alabama football fan, and he loved old country music and southern gospel.

He is survived by his wife, Diane White; children, Matthew (Amanda) White, Judy (Mark) McManus, Jeffery White, Robert White; stepsons, Tim Myers, Barry (Kristy) Myers; grandchildren, Beau White, Mark (Jacklene) McManus, Madison Myers, Shyanne Atkinson, Mitch Myers; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephew; mother-in-law, Jorene Cason; special sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Earl Hilyer; special friends, Tony Davis and Johnny Heard.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Don Upton, Dr. Eric Hemberg, and Compassus Hospice for their exceptional care.

Family and friends are welcome at the home of Bobby and Diane White.

Flowers will be accepted, or the family suggests that memorials be made to Compassus Hospice.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020 at 2:00P.M. EDT at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. The Reverend Don Downs officiating.
