Callie Jean Wheat

     Callie Jean Wheat, 38, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, December 4, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Wellstar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. 

     Callie was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 25, 1984. Callie was preceded in death by her father, Robert S. Wheat, paternal grandmother, Ernestine Stillwell Wheat, maternal grandparents, Richard W. DiBartolo and Harriett Morgan DiBartolo and her brother, Brian P. Lehner.

     Callie lived in Cobb County, Georgia and attended Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, where she excelled in many sports including volleyball, basketball, handball and soccer.  She earned a scholarship for her athletic ability in volleyball to attend University of West Georgia and later LaGrange College.

     Callie’s love for others and her kindness to others has spread to many people throughout the community.  Callie Wheat impacted and changed many lives in a positive way.  Her love for helping others led her into the hospitality business.

     For most of her adult life, she worked within the hospitality industry.  Callie loved to meet and serve strangers. These strangers became friends and her extended family.  She also worked in various other industries such as KIA, MOBIS, and Fokker Aeronautical Technologies. 

    Callie was a total “foodie”.  She loved great food, but also enjoyed cooking it. She loved the lake and traveling too.  Callie loved her rescue work with the Troup County Humane Society and over time developed a special bond with the Troup County Humane Society.

     She is survived by her fiancé and life partner, Brittany Amanda Scott; grandmother, Jacqueline Lehner; parents, Susan DiBartolo Wheat Lehner and George E. Lehner; siblings, Lani Wheat Glenn (Mark), Robert S. Wheat, II, Mallorie A. Wheat , Jennifer Lehner Hicks (David);numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces as well as extended family members, friends, and her beloved "furbabies", Millie, Pear, Sochi, and Littlefoot.

     Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00A.M. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with committal following in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Reverend Rusty Letson officiating.  Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00A.M. EST until 11:00A.M. EST.

     Flowers will be kindly accepted or the family requests that memorials be made in Callie’s memory to the Troup County Humane Society, 1390 Orchard Hill Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30240.
