Carolyn Simpler Sands

     Mrs. Carolyn Simpler Sands, 90, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Thursday, July 1st, 2021, at her residence. She was born on February 6th, 1931, at home in Riverview, Alabama to the late Hilary and Grace Simpler.

     Mrs. Sands is survived by her daughter, Jo Lyn Sands; son, Philip Sands, Jr.; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; lifelong dear friend, Donald “Smiley” Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip Sands, Sr.; daughter, Martha Berry.

     Mrs. Sands was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church where in years past, she was a member of the choir. Prior to her coming to Langdale United Methodist Church she was the choir director and pianist for Riverview Methodist Church. She taught kindergarten in Riverview for a number of years. She loved her family, her church, and working in her yard.

     Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 5th, 2021 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Dr. Tim Alexander and the Reverend John Frederick will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 AM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Sands to the Little People of America, District 13, 7085 Jacks Creek Lane, Owens Crossroads, Alabama 35763.
