Cecilia Urvina Grossman, affectionately known as Cecilia, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, in LaGrange, Georgia. Born on October 18, 1947, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Cecilia's vibrant spirit and compassionate soul touched all those around her throughout her 77 years of life.
A woman of incredible intellect and unwavering love, Cecilia dedicated her professional career in her younger years to serving as an executive secretary for a distinguished cruise company in New York and later as a translator for the United Nations, where her fluency in multiple languages bridged cultures and facilitated diplomacy. Her work was not only a testament to her intelligence but also to her commitment to global understanding and cooperation.
As a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lanett, Alabama, Cecilia's involvement within her church community was a reflection of her thoughtful and loving nature. Her spirit of service extended beyond the church walls and into her home, where she selflessly cared for her cognitively impaired daughter, Cheryl Pauline Grossman, for 45 years, embodying the very essence of maternal devotion.
Cecilia's love and legacy will be cherished and carried on by her two children, Cheryl Pauline Grossman and Michael Grossman, Jr., as well as her adored grandchildren, Lanny and Winston Grossman. Described as intelligent, loving, and thoughtful, Cecilia's absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Cecilia’s life will be held on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
