Charles "David" Watson, known affectionately as David by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the age of 69, in Opelika, Alabama.
Born on May 8, 1955, in Valley, Alabama, David's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and hard work.
David's journey began as the cherished son of Robert and Louise Watson, who preceded him in death, as did his beloved son, Lee Watson.
His legacy continued through his devoted wife of 49 years, Diane Watson, his loving daughter, Nichole Watson, and his caring son, Lynn Watson. David's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Niles McCants, Jasia McCants, and Nik Watson, who brought immense happiness and laughter into his life. He was also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. His faithful dog, Hendricks, was a constant companion and source of unconditional love. For 35 years, David dedicated his professional life to West Point Pepperell, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.
He concluded his career at Interface Floor in West Point, Georgia, retiring in 2019. His colleagues remember him as a spirited and wise man who brought thoughtful insights to every discussion. David's educational background laid the foundation for his successful career, but it was his personal interests that truly defined him.
An avid fisherman, he found solace and joy in the quiet moments by the water. Football season was a time of excitement and camaraderie, as he cheered on his favorite teams with fervor. Above all, playing with his dog, Hendricks, was a source of daily joy.
As we bid farewell to Charles David Watson, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared and the memories we hold dear.
