Charles Roy Bledsoe Obituary

 

Mr. Charles Roy Bledsoe, 87, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his residence surrounded  his family.

He was born on February 26, 1934, in Shawmut, Alabama to the late Charles Robert Bledsoe and Hazel Coulter Bledsoe. He was also preceded in death by his brother William Bledsoe and a granddaughter, Stephenie Whaley.

He was a member of Friendship Christian Church in Valley, Alabama.

Mr. Bledsoe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Alice Leak Bledsoe, Valley; daughters, Denita B. Alonso, Valdosta, GA., Pamela B. (Jeff) Wolfe, Midland, GA.; grandchildren, Jay (Theresa) Alonso, Blackshear, GA., Bryant (Lindsey) Alonso, Valdosta, GA., Patrick Wolfe, Rockville, MD., Erica Wolfe, Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren (his babies!) James and Jude Alonso, Mary Charles and Brooks Alonso, Jane Wolfe; brothers, John Bledsoe, Winter Haven, FL., Donald Bledsoe, Valley, AL; sisters, Nancy Woodard, Barnesville, GA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bledsoe served four years in the United States Navy and was a Korean War Veteran.  After serving his country, he returned home to River View where he worked for West Point Pepperell. He retired in 1998 with 48 years of service.

In his younger days, Roy enjoyed playing baseball and softball.  After he retired, he could be found on the golf course or working in his garden.  He loved visiting his children and grandchildren almost as much as he loved watching the University of Alabama football.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Roy’s memory to Friendship Christian Church, Chattahoochee Valley Hospice or a charity of your choice.
