Chris Mortensen Obituary

     Chris Mortensen, a cherished husband, father, brother, and respected senior analyst at ESPN, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, in Irondale, Alabama. Born on November 7, 1951, in Torrance, California, Chris's journey through life was marked by kindness, friendliness, and intelligence, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.

     Chris is survived by his loving wife, Micki Mortensen, his devoted son, Alex Mortensen, and his brothers, John, Joe, and Brad Mortensen. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Mortensen, and his mother, Irma Haycock, whose memories and values live on through the legacy of their son.

     After honorably serving his country as a United States Army veteran, Chris dedicated 32 years of his career to ESPN as a senior analyst. His insightful commentary and unwavering dedication to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and sports enthusiasts alike.

     The loss of Chris Mortensen is deeply felt by a community that appreciated his contributions both on and off the screen. His spirit, characterized by his kindness, friendliness, and intelligence, will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

     As we bid farewell to Chris, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, service, and the pursuit of knowledge.
