Christy Hornsby Burdette

     Christy Hornsby Burdette, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 26, 2023. Born on June 6, 1978, in Opelika, Alabama, Christy was known for her kindness, friendliness, and thoughtfulness, qualities that endeared her to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

     Christy was an independent, strong-willed woman who was as tough as nails. Her resilience and determination were evident in every aspect of her life, from her work to her personal relationships. She was a loving wife to her husband, Curtis Burdette, and a devoted mother to her children, Alexis Vallia, Brooklyn Greenleaf (Levi), Austin Vallia (Koreina Rasnick), Jacob Burdette, Caden Hornsby, and Cason Hornsby. Christy's love for her family knew no bounds, and she was always there to support and encourage them in their endeavors.  In addition, Christy is survived by her mother, Sheila Hornsby, and her brother, William Lindsey (Ashley). Her family was her rock, and she cherished the time she spent with them.

     She was preceded in death by her father, James “J.B.” Hornsby; and her grandmother, Mae Cross.

     Christy's professional life was as diverse and interesting as her personal life. She was a former cast member of the popular television series, The Walking Dead, and enjoyed her time working on set. Her experiences on the show allowed her to forge lasting friendships and create unforgettable memories. Christy's love for all things spooky and thrilling also led her to volunteer at the Haunted Hollow, where she delighted in scaring and entertaining visitors.

     Throughout her life, Christy was an active member of her community, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. She was known for her generosity and compassion, and her presence will be sorely missed by those who knew her. Christy's legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on through her family and friends, who will always remember her as a shining example of what it means to be a good person.

     Christy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving wife, mother, and friend who brought joy and laughter to everyone she met.

     Funeral services for Christy will be held on Sunday, April 30th, 2023 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Tim Deas will officiate. Christy’s family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

     Christy's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

     In closing, Christy Hornsby Burdette was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her love for her family, her passion for her work, and her unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who were lucky enough to call her a friend. Rest in peace, Christy, and thank you for the love, laughter, and joy you brought to our lives.
