Darrell Frank Tittle, affectionately known as Darrell, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023, in Opelika, Alabama. Born on October 10, 1950, in Langdale, Alabama, Darrell lived a life characterized by kindness, thoughtfulness, and a handy knack for fixing things.
Darrell was the beloved husband of Glenda "Lois" Tittle and the cherished father of Tammy Hamby (Douglas Melton), Charlie Deric Tittle, Darrell Eric Tittle, and Jonathan Davis. He was the proud grandfather of Jamie Melton (Tiffany), Jessica Meacham (Michael), Kourtney Jean Marie Keller (William), Aaron Hamby (Brianna), D. J. Tittle, and Tiffany Destiny Tittle (Eric Jones). Darrell was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Autumn and Bentlee Melton, Tyler, Molly, Taylin, and Chloe Grace Meacham, Jayleigh Taylor, Clementine Elise Jones, Annabella, Avery, and Emilia Keller, and Dakota Hamby. He was the son of Charlie F. Tittle (Judy) and brother to Debbie Tittle and Vickie Otto. Darrell also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and his brother-in-law, Steve Wood (Carol). He was preceded in death by his mother, Mertie McClain Tittle.
Darrell dedicated many years of his life to West Point Stevens, retiring in 2008. His commitment to his work was evident in his long tenure, and he was a respected figure among his colleagues. His work ethic was a testament to his character, and he was known for his reliability and dedication.
Family was the cornerstone of Darrell's life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and son. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love for his family was evident in his actions, and he was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. He was a pillar of strength and a source of comfort for his loved ones.
In his retirement, Darrell discovered a passion for computers. He enjoyed fixing them and playing games, a hobby that kept him engaged and active. His handy nature extended beyond his professional life, and he was always ready to help anyone in need. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing pool, a pastime that brought him much joy and camaraderie.
Darrell was a man of many virtues. He was kind, always thinking of others before himself. He was thoughtful, always considering the feelings and needs of those around him. And he was handy, always ready to fix a problem or lend a hand. His kindness and thoughtfulness touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Darrell's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those he left behind, a constant reminder of the love and joy he brought into their lives. Rest in peace, Darrell. Your memory will forever be cherished.
Funeral services for Darrell will be held on Monday, August 21st, 2023 at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Osanippa Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Rusty Letson will officiate. Darrell’s family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
