David Strong, age 49, of Waverly, Alabama, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on the last day of 1974, David became a beacon of kindness and friendliness in the lives of those who knew him.
Fondly known simply as David, he embraced the world with generosity and a spirited heart. He was a man who cherished his roles as a loving husband to his wife Christina, and as an exceptional father to his children, Raegan and Nathan. David's family circle extended beyond traditional bounds to include Ismael Ramirez and Othman Dowd as children of the heart, and he reveled in the joys of grand fatherhood with his grandson Colton. His sister, Sandy Cooper; his mother, Yvonne Strong; and his grandmother, Barbara Sparks, among several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, will remember David's warmth and the comfort of his handy presence. David was preceded in death by his father, Donald Strong, and a cherished cousin.
While David's family was the cornerstone of his life, his involvement with Fountain Gate Church in Auburn, Alabama, spoke volumes of his faith and commitment to his community. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived his daily life.
Always a man to keep his hands and mind occupied, David had a knack for tinkering and an artistic passion for whittling wood—creations that are treasured tokens to friends and family alike. To meet David was to meet a forthcoming friend, as no one remained a stranger around him for long.
His legacy is marked by his incredible generosity and friendly demeanor, which will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him. David Strong was truly the embodiment of the adage, 'to know him was to love him.' His spirit, celebrated by his family and friends, ensures that his memory will stand strong—just as his surname suggests.
A memorial service for David will be held on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, at 3:00 PM (Eastern Time) / 2:00 PM (Central Time) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Pastor Eric Strong will officiate. No visitation is planned.
