Mr. Dennis Byron “Paw Paw” Turner, age 67 of Valley, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 at his residence.
Dennis was born on November 19th, 1955 in Langdale, Alabama to the late June and Jeanette Turner. He was a member of Pine Grove Church in Opelika, Alabama. He was an avid University of Alabama fan who was hardworking, loving, and caring. He was a mechanic and jack of all trades who could handle any problem brought before him. He was a truck driver for over 20 years and also did contract work at Fort Benning, in Afghanistan, and in Kuwait. More than anything, he loved his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Virginia Turner; children, Michael Shane Turner (Jill), Joanette “Joni” Wright, Matthew Byron Turner (Ashley), Teri Lynn Smith (Gary), and Warren “Mitch” Wright; grandchildren, Hunter, Reese, Max, Waylon, Lilly, Christopher, Miranda, Allen “A.J.”, Alex, and Austin; siblings, Randy Turner, Steve Turner (Jeff), and Angie Battles (David).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2023 at 1:00 PM (EST) at Pine Grove Church. Pastor Frank Hayes will officiate. Dennis’ family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM (EST) until the service hour at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Dennis to the Pine Grove Church Building Fund, 7235 U.S. Highway 29 North, Opelika, Alabama 36804.
Dennis’ favorite color was red. His family asks that those attending the service Saturday wear red to honor him.
