Mr. Donald Chester Hand, Sr., age 76, of Valley passed away on Friday, August 14th, 2020 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
Mr. Hand was born on April 18th, 1944 in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Albert Ross Hand, Jr., and Bessie Mildred Rice Hand.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lanett.
Chester was a man of good character, of integrity, and had a heart of gold. Many of his friends referred to him as “the best man they knew”.
He enjoyed NASCAR, wrestling, and he loved classic cars and classic car shows.
Chester was involved for many years with the Valley Rescue Squad.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hand; sons, Donald (Vanessa) C. Hand, Jr., David (Kelli) W. Hand; grandchildren, Will Hand, Kaley Hand, Andrew Hand, Emily Hand, Tyler Hand; siblings, Albert Hand, Thomas J. Hand, Vonda (Reggie) Edwards; and his chihuahua , Mitch.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 17th, 2020 at 11:00A.M. EDT at Resthaven Cemetery in Lanett with the Reverend David Bradshaw officiating. His family will be receiving friends immediately following the committal service beginning at 12:00P.M. EDT Noon at the First Christian Church of Lanett, 312 South 1st Avenue, Lanett, Alabama 36863.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Chester’s memory to the First Christian Church of Lanett, 312 South 1st Avenue, Lanett, Alabama 36863.
