Donna Maria "Blu" Williams Obituary

We come together today to celebrate the life of Donna Maria "Blu" Williams, a beacon of love and generosity who left us on December 22, 2023. Donna graced this world with her presence on January 9, 1949, in West Point, Georgia, and departed from Opelika, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, care, and unforgettable memories.

Donna’s journey began as the cherished daughter of Betty Louise Keeble Williams and Robert Burton Sherrer, and she grew up under the loving guidance of her step-father, Herman L. Williams. Her early years in Georgia were filled with the simple joys of life that she would carry into her later years as a nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Donna’s life was one of selfless devotion to her family. She is survived by her sons, Robby Bettis of Lanett, Alabama, and Brad Siggers (Nicki) of Valley, Alabama. Her love and legacy continue to shine through her grandchildren, Justin Bettis of Lanett, Brandon Siggers of Valley, and Kody Kent (Lizzie) of Valley, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Lawson, and Liam Bettis and Jon Luke Kent. Donna's affection was not limited to her human family, as she also leaves behind her beloved fur baby, Baby, along with two special aunts, Dorothy Hale of West Point, Georgia and Mary Herren of Valley and a host of additional family members who felt her love and care.

Donna’s life was marked by her incredible culinary skills, a talent that brought joy and togetherness to family gatherings. She was known for her ability to create warmth not only through the dishes she prepared but also through the love that she poured into every meal. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, laughter, and the creation of cherished family memories.  She was a hairstylist for many years who at one time had her own shop.

Those who knew Donna will remember her as a strong-willed and independent woman. Her resilience and determination were the bedrock upon which she built her life, always prioritizing the needs of her family above her own. Donna’s role as a caregiver extended beyond her immediate family, as she generously offered her time and heart to several family members over the years, embodying the true spirit of selflessness.

Donna’s love for her grandbabies and fur babies was unparalleled. She found her greatest joy in their happiness and well-being, and her generous spirit ensured that they always felt cherished and supported. Her legacy is one of love, a testament to the life she lived and the hearts she touched.

As we bid farewell to Donna Maria "Blu" Williams, we reflect on a life well-lived, a life that was a gift to all who knew her. Donna's memory will continue to inspire us to put family first, to care for one another, and to spread love generously. Her spirit remains a guiding light, reminding us of the beauty of a life dedicated to others. May we all carry a piece of Blu's indomitable spirit within us, as we navigate the paths she has left behind.
