     Dorothy Jean McCarley, affectionately known as Jean to her friends and family, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 16, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on November 30, 1932, in Langdale, Alabama, Jean was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life.

     Jean was the cherished matriarch of a loving family. She is survived by her devoted children, Timothy McCarley, Terri Jacobs (married to Victor), and Christopher McCarley (married to Cindy). Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willis F. McCarley, Jr., her son, Michael Brendan McCarley, her parents, Lois and Whit Kitchens, and her mother-in-law, Ruby McCarley.

     Throughout her life, Jean was deeply involved in her community and her faith. She was a dedicated member of Lanett Congregational Christian Church, The Church on the Rock, and The New Unity Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in her unwavering commitment to her church and its congregation. Jean's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.

     Jean's work ethic was unparalleled, and she approached every task with dedication and vigor. Her colleagues and friends knew her as someone who could always be relied upon, no matter the circumstance. Her involvement in various associations and her commitment to her church community were testaments to her desire to serve and make a difference in the lives of others.

     A true fan of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Jean's love for Elvis Presley's music was known to all who knew her. She found great pleasure in dancing and listening to music, which were sources of happiness and relaxation in her busy life. Her favorite movie, "Driving Miss Daisy," reflected her appreciation for storytelling and her love for films that captured the essence of human relationships.

     Jean's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant spirit and her love for life. She was a hard worker, but she also knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures, like a good song or a well-told story. Her love for her family was paramount, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

     Those who knew Jean would describe her as loving, kind, and faith filled. Her presence was a comfort to many, and her kindness touched the hearts of those around her. Jean's faith was an inspiration, and her loving nature will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

     Funeral services for Jean will be held on Friday, January 19th, 2024, at 11:00 AM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery. Brother Andrew Harper will officiate. Jean’s family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
