Mrs. Dorothy Workman Taunton died Wednesday, November 22nd at Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, GA after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of the Blanton Community of Beulah, AL. She had resided at Canterbury Nursing Home since February, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wallace Holton Workman, Sr. and Charles Taunton; her son, Denny Wayne Workman; her parents, Evola and John Waites; sisters, Beth Taylor and Mary Ruth Talley; brothers, J. B., Clyde, James, Ralph, Murray, and Grady Waites.
She is survived by her son, Wallace “June Bug” Workman; grandsons, Brandon Workman and Richard “Fly” Workman (Charity); great-grandsons, Blake Smith and Richard H. Workman, Jr.; multiple nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of Blanton Baptist Church of Beulah, AL where she was loved by her church family. She was known for her sense of humor and quick wit. She loved her family and also loved to cook, garden, and fish. Dorothy was definitely an unforgettable lady who could put a smile on your face.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, at 11:00 AM (EST) at the graveside in Fairfax Cemetery. Pastor Ronnie Jordan will officiate. Dorothy’s family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
