Erma Lee Smallwood Richardson

     Mrs. Erma Lee Smallwood Richardson, age 89, of Lanett, AL, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023. She was born on April 9th, 1934 in Gabbettville, GA.

     Mrs. Richardson is survived by her son, Wendell (Becky) Richardson of Pike Road, AL; one grandchild, Ashley Richardson of LaGrange, GA; and two great grandchildren, Parker and Hadley.

     She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Griggs Richardson; her parents, Jace and Lorean Smallwood; one son, Dennis Richardson; three brothers, Roy Smallwood, Clifford Smallwood, and James Smallwood; three sisters, Imogene Aaron, Florence Camp, and Jeanette Ussery.

     Mrs. Richardson worked for many years as a cashier at Big Star Foods, and later for the City of Lanett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lanett. She never met a stranger, and loved playing the piano, often filling in for several churches in the Valley area. She also had an immense love for flowers and plants, spending many hours every day caring for and nurturing her gardens.

     Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 18th, 2023 at 10:00 AM (EDT) at Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Rusty Letson will officiate. No visitation is planned.
