Ethel Mae Smith Obituary

Ethel Mae Smith, a resident of Lanett, Alabama passed away peacefully at her residence on April 8, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on June 23, 1931, in Lanett, Alabama, Ethel lived a life characterized by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

Ethel, as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, was a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love and belief. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 22, 1954, and her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life.

A loving mother and grandmother, Ethel is survived by her sons, David Smith of Georgia and Jeffrey Smith of Florida; her grandsons, Mark, Dustin, and Ryan Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Tucker, Remi, and Greyson Smith. She was a source of endless support and wisdom for her family, and her legacy of kindness and strength will live on through them.

Ethel was preceded in death by her son, Martin Earl Smith, Sr.; her granddaughter, Paula Elaine Smith; and her beloved husband of 44 years, Horace Smith. Together, they built a family founded on mutual respect, care, and unconditional love.

As we remember Ethel, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Ethel's love and spirit have indeed become a part of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Ethel's life was a journey of joy, challenges, and unwavering faith. Her story is not one of an end but a continuation, as the values she instilled in her family and the love she shared with her friends will endure. We take comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.

As we bid farewell to Ethel Mae Smith, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will forever enrich our world. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will be cherished forever.
