Eugene "Sonny" Murphy

Eugene Murphy, affectionately known as Sonny, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Lanier Nursing Home at the age of 78.

Sonny was born on October 11, 1945 in Langdale Alabama.

Sonny was educated at Fairfax school and graduated from Valley High School in 1964.

The Marines was Sonny's next destination. He served in the military for two years and completed war time services in the Vietnam.

In 2007, he retired from the Knauf Fiberglass with twenty years of dedicated services.

Sonny was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Imogene Murphy and brother Phil Murphy.

Surviving family members include wife, Judith Murphy of fifty-five years, two sons, Mason and Brian, and three grandchildren, Justin Murphy, Libbey Kelley, and Macy McElvy.

Services will be held at Fairfax First Baptist Church on Thursday at 11:00 EDT. Officiating the services will be Reverend Steve York and Kevin Anglin with interment in Fairfax Cemetery.

Johnson Brown Service Funeral Home will be Directing the services.
