Faye Roberts Harper Obituary

We come together to celebrate and honor the life of Faye Roberts Harper, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully at her residence in Lanett, Alabama, on the 11th of September 2024. Born on October 1st, 1942, in Valley, Alabama, Faye's journey through life has been one marked by love, dedication, and joyful service to her community.

Faye's heart was foremost with her loving family. She leaves behind a daughter, Tammie Sides, married to Allen; grandsons, Jeff Sides, and Daniel Sides, with his wife Kate; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate, Grayson, and Sutton Sides, who all adored their "Mama Faye." Her family circle also includes her brother, Arnold Roberts; sister, Lois Aikens; and several in-laws, Carey Harper with Carol, Rev. Greg Harper with Sharon, and Paulette Wilkins with John. Faye was the caring aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews, including Dwayne Aikens (Gaye), Brett Harper Joette), Dennis Ogle (Cathy), Thomas Ogle (Donna), Jason Roberts (Kari), Lindsey Akin (Robert), Gale Askew (Chris), Virginia Babson, Lisa Birdsong (Michael), Carolyn Black (Marvin), Betty Jo Striblin (Tim), Loretta Smith (Steve), and Karen Weisenburger (Tom), as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews. Her life was previously brightened by her husband of 55 years, Waymon Harper, and her sons, Richard Gay Milstead and Randall Waymon Harper, who all preceded her in death, together with her parents, Rev. Mose & Bertha Roberts, and sisters, Nellie Jo Ogle and Marjorie Ogle.

Faye was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was lovingly known as "Mama Mac & Cheese." Her involvement extended to the Good Samaritan Sunday School class, meal preparation in the kitchen, and nurturing young hearts during Vacation Bible School. Her kindness and warmth made her a beloved figure within her faith community.

Cooking, shopping, and singing karaoke were among Faye's favorite pursuits. She found joy in watching "House Hunters," cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and was especially fond of Hallmark Christmas movies, allowing her gentle spirit to bathe in their warmth and reassuring happy endings.

It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Faye Harper. Her legacy of love, characterized by gentle kindness, lives on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched. Though she has left this mortal realm, the melody of her life's song will resonate for generations to come, a sweet, eternal echo of all that is loving and good.
