Gary Eugene Hadaway, known affectionately as Gary to his friends and family, passed away on October 14, 2024, in Lafayette, Alabama, at the age of 71.
Born on August 24, 1953, in Langdale, Alabama, Gary was a man whose adventurous spirit and interesting character left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Gary's life was marked by his love for the outdoors, especially his passion for fishing, which provided him with countless hours of tranquility and joy. His hands were skilled, and he could fix or build almost anything, earning him the reputation of being incredibly handy. These attributes, combined with his adventurous nature, made Gary a truly interesting individual to be around.
He was a beloved step - father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Gary's legacy is carried on by his loving family: his brothers, Clinton Hadaway and his wife Sarah Ann, Sterling Hadaway and his wife Sharon, Barry Hadaway, and Jeff Hadaway and his wife Pam; sister, Janice Holman and her husband Van; his stepchild, Jody Martin and his wife Tracy; his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Brandon and Michael Martin; and sister-n-laws, Shelia Hadaway and Tommie Lou Hadaway. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warmth.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Eugene and Martha Vivian Hadaway; his brothers, Kenneth and Rolyn Hadaway; as well as his sister-in-law, Elaine Hadaway.
His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
As we bid farewell to Gary, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of adventure, love, and the joy of a day spent on the water with a fishing rod in hand. His memory will continue to inspire us to embrace life's journey with the same enthusiasm and courage he demonstrated every day.
Rest in peace, Gary; your adventure continues on the shores of eternity.
