Gayle Patricia Creamer Obituary

Gayle Patricia Creamer passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, in Opelika, Alabama, at the age of 82. Born on July 19, 1941, in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada, Gayle's life was a testament to her thoughtful nature and her unwavering ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Gayle's journey through life was shared with her devoted husband, James "Jimmy" Creamer, her loving daughter, Anne Cotney, and her son-in-law, Danny. She was a cherished grandmother to Katie McConnell and her husband, Chase, and a doting great-grandmother to Beau and Murphy. Her siblings, Myrna Eddison and her husband, Jim, of Toronto, Canada, David Cochrane and his wife, Gillian, of London, and Tommy Cochrane of Powell River, Canada, also held a special place in her heart.  She also held a special place for her nieces and nephews always taking a special interest into what was happening in their lives.

Gayle met her husband Jim Creamer at Redcastle, County Donegal in Ireland where her family moved to in 1959. Her record store, "The Pop Shop" in Derry was very popular as she always had the latest hits and souvenirs for the visiting tourists.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Richard Ernest Horace Cochrane, who instilled in her the values of kindness and generosity that she carried throughout her life.

For over three decades, Mrs. Creamer was the office manager for Dr. Kamath's medical practice.  Her warmth and efficiency were felt by both staff and patients. She also served the community through her work as a ward clerk at the hospital in Valley, Alabama. Her professional life was marked by dedication and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.

Gayle's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She found joy in sewing, creating beautiful pieces that were both practical and artistic. Traveling was another of Gayle's pleasures, allowing her to explore new places and cultures, always with an open heart and mind. Her faith was a central part of her life, and she was an active and beloved member of her church family at The Journey Church. Gayle's love for music was evident in her talent for playing the piano, a skill that brought harmony and happiness to many gatherings.

One of Gayle's most remarkable traits was her ability to never meet a stranger. She approached each new acquaintance with the same warmth and interest as she would a long-lost friend. This characteristic, along with her loving, selfless, and thoughtful nature, made her a cherished figure in her community and beyond.

As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Gayle lived by this philosophy, touching the hearts of everyone she met with her kindness and compassion.

Gayle's legacy is one of love and service, a life rich in moments shared and lives touched. Her memory will be carried forward in the stories told by her family, the laughter shared among friends, and the quiet acts of kindness that continue to ripple out from the life she lived so fully.
