Harvey Herman Browning, known to friends and family as Herman, passed away peacefully on April 16 2023, in Opelika, Alabama. Born on September 5, 1938, in Rock Mills, Alabama. Herman lived a life full of love, laughter, and service to his country and community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Rollins Browning, and their children, Chris (James) Williams of Five Points, AL., Stacey (Jimmy) Moore of Huguley, AL.,  Ranetta (David) Bishop of Dawsonville, GA., Michelle (Scott) Engelman of Beulah, AL. and Lamar (Tammy) Browning of Valley, AL.      Herman served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army for 17 years. His military career saw him excel in various roles, including gunner, crew chief, helicopter mechanic, staff sergeant, and instructor. He completed three tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in connection with military operations against hostile forces. Herman also received numerous Oakleaf Cluster Air Medal Awards and the Air Medal with "V" device award for his acts of valor. His dedication to his country and fellow soldiers was a testament to his courage and commitment.

Herman was an avid sports fan and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. He loved to swim when he was younger.

Herman's love for Jesus was evident in his daily life, as he read his Bible and lived out his faith. He was known for his sense of humor, faith-filled heart, and courageous spirit.

His love for his family and friends was evident in the time he spent with them. He enjoyed working in his yard, sharing his love for sports, and sipping black coffee year-round. His laughter and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. As we remember Herman, let us strive to live our lives with the same courage, faith, and joy that he embodied.
